Honda CD 70 Safety — Protect Pakistan's Most Popular Motorcycle
Honda CD 70 is Pakistan's most common motorcycle. Complete theft prevention guide including best locks, hidden kill switches, city hotspots, and what to do if your CD 70 is stolen.
The CD 70: Even More Common, Even More Targeted
The Honda CD 70 is arguably Pakistan's most numerous vehicle on the road — more common even than the CG 125 in smaller cities and rural areas. Its ubiquity, low resale traceability (older models have simpler documentation), and enormous parts market make it a prime theft target across all of Pakistan's provinces.
In smaller cities like Gujranwala, Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sahiwal, CD 70 theft is the dominant vehicle crime. In these cities, police stations deal with dozens of CD 70 theft FIRs monthly.
Why CD 70 Theft Patterns Differ from CG 125
- More common in smaller cities where police resources are thinner and oversight is less
- Older models (pre-2015) have simpler ignition systems — even easier to bypass
- Parts market for CD 70 is enormous — every motorcycle repair shop carries CD 70 parts
- Lower unit value means thieves operate with less care — grab and go quickly
- Used CD 70 market is enormous — a stolen bike re-sold as second-hand is hard to trace
Prevention Tips Specific to CD 70
- Chain your CD 70 to a fixed structure even for 5-minute stops — CD 70 theft is opportunistic and very quick
- Install a hidden kill switch — this costs PKR 300–800 at a local mechanic and significantly deters experienced thieves
- Put a small piece of tape over your fuel tank cap to show if it's been tampered with (fuel theft is also common)
- Engrave your CNIC number on the frame — this makes the bike traceable even if the registration plate is changed
- Park in well-lit, monitored areas wherever possible
- Avoid leaving the bike on the street overnight — bring it inside your home or a guarded parking
Registration and Documentation
Many CD 70 owners in Pakistan have bikes with incomplete or outdated documentation. This makes recovery after theft extremely difficult — police cannot return a bike to you if you cannot prove ownership. Ensure:
- Your registration book (book) is in your name and up-to-date
- Your token tax is paid — lapsed token raises questions at verification checkpoints
- You have the original purchase receipt (bill) — especially for bikes bought second-hand
- Check your bike's registration status via mtmis.excise-punjab.gov.pk (Punjab) or Sindh Excise portal
