Toiletries — Strict Rules Apply
During Ihram, fragrant products are forbidden. Pack two sets — unscented for Ihram state, regular for before/after.
- Unscented soap bars — 4 (for Ihram state)
- Regular soap / body wash (for non-Ihram days)
- Toothbrush and fluoride-free toothpaste (or miswak — recommended)
- Sunscreen SPF 50+ — HIGH PRIORITY. Saudi sun causes severe burns
- Lip balm SPF (sunburned lips are a genuine problem in Makkah)
- Unscented deodorant (for Ihram state)
- Nail clippers (must trim nails before entering Ihram)
- Small scissors
- Feminine hygiene products — bring full supply, harder to find in Makkah
- Wet wipes — unscented, large pack
Electronics
- Smartphone — fully charged, key apps installed (Haramain app, QiblaConnect, offline maps)
- Charger
- Saudi Arabia power adapter (Type G — same as Pakistan, no adapter needed)
- Power bank — at least 20,000 mAh (charging points are scarce at Masjid sites)
- Earphones — for duas and Quran recitation
- Small torch / flashlight (for pre-dawn departures from Mina)
Medicines — Treat This as Life-Critical
- All personal prescriptions — bring 50% more than you need
- Paracetamol / Panadol — for fever and foot pain
- Imodium / Entrogermina — stomach issues are extremely common
- ORS packets — dehydration is the #1 health risk in Makkah heat
- Antacids (Gaviscon, ENO)
- Antihistamine (Benadryl) — allergies and dust
- Band-aids and blister plasters — ESSENTIAL, walking causes severe blisters
- Pain relief cream (Voltaren / Diclofenac gel) for feet and joints
- Eye drops (heat and dust cause eye irritation)
- Face mask (N95 or surgical — crowds spread illness rapidly)
Money
- Saudi Riyals — exchange in Pakistan before departure (airport rates are poor)
- ATM card / debit card linked to your account (works at Saudi ATMs)
- Cash belt / money belt worn under clothing
- Keep PKR 10,000 in rupees — for emergencies on return
Nishaaan QR Tags — Tag Every Bag
Tag Every Bag Before Departure
Hajj and Umrah involve massive crowds, tent cities, and shared buses where bags are constantly moved. Thousands of pilgrims lose luggage in Mina and Arafat every year. A Nishaaan QR tag on each bag means any pilgrim who finds your bag can scan and contact you immediately — without needing to know your number.
- Tag your main suitcase — print Nishaaan QR and attach
- Tag your ihram bag separately — it often goes ahead with you
- Tag your medicine pouch — critical if separated from main luggage
- Tag your electronics pouch / power bank bag
- Tag your carry-on — the most commonly swapped bag on Jeddah-bound flights
What NOT to Pack
- Perfumes, colognes, scented creams — forbidden in Ihram and pointless to carry
- Too many shoes — one pair of sandals and one pair of shoes is enough
- Valuable jewelry — leave at home, risk of loss in crowds is high
- More than 2 sets of ihram — 2 is sufficient for any trip length
- Full-size shampoo and conditioner — buy travel sizes or buy in Saudi
- Iron — not needed, cotton wrinkles shake out
- Laptop — unless you genuinely need it for work, it's dead weight
- Excessive food from Pakistan — customs may seize it, and halal food is everywhere
Weight Management Tips
PIA economy class typically allows 23kg checked baggage plus 7kg carry-on. Saudi Airlines / Flydubai routes may vary. Pilgrims regularly buy in Makkah and Madinah — budget 5–8kg of empty space for shopping return.
