The Orange Line — Lahore's Metro System

The Orange Line Metro Train covers 27.1 km with 26 stations, connecting Ali Town in the south to Dera Gujjran in the northeast. It carries hundreds of thousands of passengers daily and is far safer and more organized than Lahore's road transport — but it has its own safety considerations.

Peak Hours and Risk Assessment

The highest-risk periods for lost items and pickpocketing on the Orange Line are:

  • 7 AM–9 AM (morning rush): Train carriages are extremely packed. Pickpocketing risk highest.
  • 5 PM–7 PM (evening rush): Similar density. Many commuters distracted with phones.
  • After Friday prayers: Sudden surge at Lahore Railway Station and Badami Bagh stops.

Most Commonly Lost Items on the Orange Line

  • Phones left on seats (most common — commuters doze off, get up in a hurry at their stop)
  • Wallets falling from back pockets in standing-room-only carriages
  • Earbuds / AirPods cases left in seat pockets
  • Shopping bags left on floor near doors
  • Glasses and reading glasses on seats
