Lost Your Phone in Pakistan? Complete Recovery Guide
Lost your phone in Pakistan? This guide covers PTA IMEI blocking (DIRBS), Find My iPhone and Android steps, filing an FIR, and how a QR sticker on your phone case can help a finder return it.
First 30 Minutes: Critical Steps
- 1Try calling your number — maybe someone found it and will answer
- 2Use Find My iPhone (iOS) or Find My Device (Android) to locate it
- 3If stolen, use the remote lock or wipe feature immediately
- 4Contact your mobile carrier to temporarily block the SIM
- 5File an FIR at the nearest police station
PTA IMEI Blocking — DIRBS System
Pakistan's PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) operates DIRBS — the Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking System. If your phone is stolen or lost, you can report its IMEI to PTA to block it from working on any Pakistani network.
To block your IMEI: visit DIRBS.pta.gov.pk or call 0800-20000 (toll-free, 24/7). You'll need your CNIC number and the phone's IMEI number (find it on your original box or receipt). Blocking prevents the thief from using the phone on any network — though it doesn't physically track the device.
Find My iPhone — Step by Step
- 1Go to icloud.com/find on any device or computer
- 2Sign in with your Apple ID
- 3Click 'All Devices' and select your missing iPhone
- 4You'll see the last known location on a map
- 5Enable 'Lost Mode' — this locks the phone and displays a contact number for the finder
- 6If you believe it's unrecoverable, click 'Erase iPhone' to protect your data
Google Find My Device — Android
- 1Go to android.com/find on any device
- 2Sign in with your Google account
- 3Select your missing device
- 4Play a sound, lock the device, or see its last known location
- 5Lock the device and add a recovery message with a contact number

What to Do If Find My Is Disabled
If location services were off, the phone is the wrong Apple ID, or the device is offline, your options are limited. File the FIR with your IMEI number and police case number. Some phones appear online later when the thief charges them. Monitor the app for any location updates over the next 24-48 hours.
