FAST Islamabad Campus — Sector A-K, Faisal Town

Campus Entry Protocols

The FAST Islamabad campus is located on Faisal Avenue in Sector A-K, a relatively compact but well-organized campus. Entry requires a valid FAST student card, which is checked at the main gate by security. Visitors must register at the front desk and receive a visitor pass. During exams, entry protocols are tightened — no bags beyond a certain size are allowed into exam halls.

Academic Buildings and Labs

The Islamabad campus has three main academic blocks (A, B, and C blocks) and a separate Computer Lab building. The CS labs on the ground floor of Block C are where most students spend their late evenings working on assignments and projects.

• Block A houses the main auditorium and administrative offices. Lost items found here are taken to the Admin Office, Room A-01.
• Block B has lecture halls for core courses. After large lectures (60+ students), items are frequently left behind. The peon assigned to each floor collects these.
• Block C's computer labs have cubby shelves at the entrance. Do NOT leave phones, wallets, or car keys in your bag while it's on the shelf.
• The library on the 1st floor of Block A has limited seating. Students leave bags to reserve spots — a risky practice during busy hours.

Hostel Rules

FAST Islamabad does not have on-campus hostels, so most outstation students live in nearby private hostels in Faisal Town, Tarnol, or I-8. These private hostels vary widely in security — from basic single-lock rooms to managed hostels with CCTV. If you're in a private hostel near FAST Islamabad, invest in a good padlock, keep your valuables locked in a trunk, and label everything.

FAST Lahore Campus — Block B, Faisal Town

Campus Layout

The Lahore campus is located in Block B, Faisal Town, near the University of Engineering & Technology (UET) area. It's larger than the Islamabad campus, with dedicated engineering labs, a proper library, and a cafeteria that doubles as the social hub.

Entry and Security

The Lahore campus has a single main gate with student card verification. The gate closes at a fixed time each evening. Late entry requires calling the security office. CCTV cameras cover the parking lot, main corridors, and cafeteria area.

Hostel Security

FAST Lahore has an on-campus boys' hostel with a separate entry gate and 24/7 security. Female students are accommodated in approved off-campus hostels. The on-campus hostel has the following rules:

• Student ID required for entry — no exceptions. Guests must be registered at the hostel office.
• Room keys are issued at check-in. Lost keys incur a PKR 500 replacement fee and a security review.
• Common areas (lounge, kitchen) are shared. Don't leave your laptop charging unattended in the lounge.
• Hostel curfew is at 11:00 PM on weekdays, 12:00 AM on weekends. Late arrivals must call the warden.
• Valuables should be stored in the wardrobe with a padlock. The hostel provides basic metal wardrobes.

FAST Karachi Campus — ST-4 Shah Latif Town

Campus Specifics

The Karachi campus, located in National Highway area near Shah Latif Town, is the largest FAST campus by student population. With Karachi's security landscape, campus protocols here are stricter than other branches.

• Double security check at the main gate — card verification plus bag inspection during heightened alerts
• Separate parking areas for cars, motorcycles, and bicycles. Always lock your vehicle and don't leave helmets attached loosely.
• The campus has a covered walkway connecting all blocks — don't leave bags on the benches along this walkway
• The Karachi campus cafeteria is outdoors. During lunch rush (1 PM - 2 PM), it's extremely crowded. Keep bags on your lap or between your feet.
• Lab equipment (especially Arduino kits, breadboards, and oscilloscope probes) must be signed out and signed back in. You're financially responsible for any damage or loss.

FAST Peshawar Campus — Ring Road, Hayatabad

The Peshawar campus is located on Ring Road near Hayatabad. It's the smallest FAST campus but growing rapidly. Security protocols are strict given the city's history. All students undergo bag checks at entry. The campus has basic facilities — two academic blocks, a library, a small cafeteria, and a prayer hall.

The Peshawar campus does not have an on-campus hostel. Students live in private hostels in Hayatabad Phase 6 and 7. Transport to campus is via the campus shuttle or private vans. Items left on campus shuttles should be reported to the Transport Coordinator at the Admin Office.

FAST Chiniot-Faisalabad Campus

The newest FAST campus, located in Chiniot with a secondary hub in Faisalabad. This campus is still developing its infrastructure. Currently, it has a single academic block and a small hostel. Security is managed by contracted guards. The lost and found process here is informal — check with the Admin Office on the ground floor.

Lab Equipment Safety Across All Campuses

FAST students work extensively with hardware — from breadboard circuits to Raspberry Pi setups, from networking equipment to robotics kits. Protecting this equipment (both university-issued and personal) is critical.

1. 1University-issued equipment must be signed out with the lab in-charge. Return it the same day unless you have written permission for overnight use.
2. 2Personal equipment (Arduino kits, multimeters, soldering irons) should be labeled clearly. A QR tag on your toolkit case means it comes back to you if someone finds it.
3. 3During Final Year Projects (FYP), teams store equipment in the FYP lab. These labs have limited security after hours. Don't store anything irreplaceable there overnight.
4. 4USB drives are the most commonly lost item at FAST. Put a QR tag sticker on yours — it costs less than re-doing a lost assignment.
5. 5If you use a personal laptop in the lab, use a Kensington lock slot (if available) or keep it in your bag when stepping out.

Parking Safety

Car and motorcycle parking at FAST campuses is a common concern, especially at Lahore and Karachi where parking lots are larger and less closely monitored.

• Always park in designated areas. Cars parked outside the lot are not covered by campus CCTV.
• Don't leave bags, laptops, or phones visible in your car. Smash-and-grab incidents, though rare on campus, happen in nearby areas.
• Motorcycles: Use a disc lock in addition to the steering lock. Karachi and Lahore campuses have reported occasional bike theft.
• The parking lot attendant at each campus has a logbook. Note your parking time when you arrive — this helps in case of disputes.
• Attach a Nishaaan QR tag to your car dashboard or bike under the seat — if your vehicle is found after theft, the tag facilitates recovery.

Lost Items Process — Universal Across FAST Campuses

FAST does not have a unified lost and found system across campuses, but each campus follows a similar process:

1. 1Check with the nearest peon or security guard first. They often collect items found in lecture halls and corridors.
2. 2Visit the Admin Office (usually on the ground floor of Block A at each campus). Describe your item with as much detail as possible.
3. 3Post in the campus-specific Facebook group or WhatsApp batch group. FAST students are very active online, and found items are frequently posted there.
4. 4For high-value items, file a written complaint with the Admin Office. This creates an official record and may trigger a CCTV review.
5. 5Items are typically held for 14-21 days before being donated or discarded. Act quickly.
